Must have!- My first tasting with this wine was at the Bellagio Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. One of the Sommeliers was assisting me with picking out a wine that would go well with the steak medallion and mushroom torte I had ordered. I wanted an Argentinian wine and a Malbec as I was on a South American stint at the time. This wine has a full body feel in your mouth and the fragrance of the chocolate and berries blended so well with my entree. I couldn’t have been happier except than I had to share the bottle with my colleagues at the table.
Medium tannins, mild acidity, one of my all time favorites. I highly recommend it.
The backstory from the Sommelier that night was that the vintners traveled around the world personally selecting the land to grow the various varietals that they offer under the Layer Cake brand. That is why you find the Cab from California, this Malbec from Argentina and various other varietals from other destinations around the world.
Malbecs are one of my favorites. I was in Mendoza in the late 90’s doing some grape work when the locals took me out to dinner and served up their favorites.
Now if I could just remember what it was!!
I will try this one, but I am sure it is good, most all of them are!
And if you get a chance to go to Mendoza, jump on it! Great place, but learning how to drive there is an experience.
