I had a great time at a Masked wine event the other night. I have to say it’s been forever and a night that I had wine served out of a brown bag;). Ok so I thought it would be served decanted with #s assigned. 🙂
Once I got over the bag, here’s how it went. #1,2 4 skip.skip & skip. A Barbera, Zin and a Malbec. All three were poor representations of the varietals. #3 got my attention. It was a ’07 Reserve Tempranillo from Justin Vineyards and Winery that started out sweet and ended with a very bold savory finish. Not particularly fragrant but I could taste a layering of flavors which gave it the depth I was looking for. www.justinwines.com
#5 finally a nice ’06 Merlot from Suscol Ranch out of Napa Valley. I keep falling back into Napa wines but this Merlot is worth my slip. It had a character that seemed more Malbec than Merlot and was a easy pour. Thoroughly enjoyed, great finish! www.nickelandnickel.com
