When is a 50ml wine sample not enough? I had to portion this out carefully as I wanted to enjoy this wine immediately as well as capture my tasting notes for you! I loved the aroma of this wine.
Not unexpectedly, I picked up on the mix of berries, raspberries, boysenberries, x-erries and y-erries too. Did I forget to mention a berry? 🙂 Yes, this cab has a very fruity aroma but when you taste and really enjoy a glass or sampler in my case, it has a much more ‘grown-up’ and professional demeanor.
While the color is more translucent than opaque, the flavors are deeper than the garnet color leads you to believe. I also believe that if I had left this wine to rest and been more patient, the flavor palate would have softened out some. The wine was a bit bright and sharp and the finish was a bit shorter than I’d like. Yet I recognized the familiarity of this particular “taste experience” and what becomes of a great wine that simply needs to air properly. Nothing fancy just air (and patience).
I think I missed the opportunity to purchase a full bottle now but I’ll keep searching. Overall, I would recommend this wine and give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5.
